The basis of the Regulation we voted on today is the Brussels Convention, one of the most successful pieces of EU legislation which laid the foundations for a European judicial area. The application of uniform European rules based on case-law promotes greater legal certainty and predictability of decisions, avoiding parallel proceedings. One of the fundamental conditions for the functioning of a European judicial area is the free movement of judicial decisions. I therefore agree with the position expressed in the document that it is necessary to review this Regulation in order to guarantee the effective movement of judicial decisions."@en1
