"One of the ideas we have, and I mentioned this during my hearing back in January, is that in the new financial perspective, we will try to have a system of climate proofing of projects. In other words, if the European Union contributes to financing say, an infrastructure project – a huge construction project of some kind – it would be practical for us to take into consideration, at the construction stage, what we know about rising water levels and about the impact of climate change. In other words, one of our priorities is to see if we could have climate proofing of the way that we spend money, so that we only provide EU financial support for projects for which we are sure that all the knowledge we have on adaptation requirements for the area in question is being taken into consideration. This is just one example."@en1
