"We are greatly perplexed by this report and are therefore voting against it, because, while it is right to make women from non-EU countries aware of their rights within their families, where they often live in a segregated manner, on the other hand, we cannot conceive of treating those who live as guests in our country better than our own citizens, who have always lived and paid taxes in the Member States.
Even today, when we consider the percentage of non-EU residents compared to European citizens who enjoy free social services such as healthcare, education and housing, it is clearly skewed in favour of the former. This means that people who live, work and pay taxes in their own countries are lower down the list than those who have recently arrived in Europe."@en1
