It is a balanced service in terms of its organisation and composition, and will be created to assist Baroness Ashton in her work as High Representative of the European Union. Furthermore, it will have the effect of strengthening the European Parliament’s political and budgetary control powers. I sincerely hope that best use will be made of this service in the interests of the European Union.
