"I voted for the McCarthy report on bankers’ remuneration, since the excessive search for short-term profits by an overly large financial sector profoundly destabilised the financial sector and contributed to the crisis. This text, adopted by an overwhelming majority of the European Parliament, imposes a ceiling on variable remuneration and allows up to 70% of traders’ bonuses to be carried over to take account of the bank’s long-term interests. This text therefore has a twofold objective: to stabilise the financial sector and place it once more at the service of long-term investment."@en1
