lpv:translated text	"Madam President, Kosovo declared independence on 17 February 2008, and so far, 69 countries, including 22 from the European Union, have recognised the new country. Only five have not done so: one of these is Spain, which missed the opportunity to endorse it during its European Presidency, perhaps influenced by the reality of its own state structure. We need to support the European outlook for Kosovo as an independent country, as this is what its people have decided. We need to contribute to and collaborate with Kosovo so that it achieves political and social stability, and work with it so that it improves its relations with Serbia, so that it consolidates its institutions and its democracy, and for its possible integration into the European Union. I ask Spain especially to recognise the independence of Kosovo, as this is what its people have decided, and this is what Europe has also recognised."@en1
