I am aware that the kind of justice that is both effective and capable of responding in a timely and appropriate fashion to citizens’ problems requires suitably trained operators (judges, lawyers and other legal professionals). I warmly welcome the European Commission’s decision to draw up an action plan on European training for all legal professions in 2011 and to launch Erasmus-type pilot projects, namely exchange programmes for judicial authorities and legal professionals, in 2010-2012. I will be following the progress of this proposal with interest."@en1
