"As Joseph Daul, President of the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats), stressed, Estonia’s adoption of the euro on 1 January 2011 is a double sign of confidence: Estonia’s confidence in the euro, a truly positive signal for the markets, but also the EU’s confidence in Estonia, which will become the first Baltic State to take that step. This confidence is completely justified, as the Estonian Government debt ratio is the lowest in Europe. I therefore voted firmly in favour of this report recommending Estonia’s entry into the euro area."@en1
