"The Commission – and I myself – very much deplore the deaths of these three people in the riots recently, as described by the Member. It is always a tragedy when innocent people are affected by these issues. We deplore it, and our thoughts are with their families.
As you say, we need to refresh our statistics all the time, and Eurostat is looking at this. Hopefully, we will be able to have a better assessment some time soon. We do not plan any initiatives for the moment on this. These crimes and these deaths are horrible, but the Commission’s competence is limited to cross-border crime and to facilitating cooperation between national authorities and European authorities. For the moment, there is no initiative planned in this regard."@en1
