"I voted in favour of the European Commission having a strengthened mandate to negotiate with the US authorities on the SWIFT issue. Indeed, we must receive assurances that two important reservations – the question of bulk data transfer and the opportunity for Europeans to have legal redress in the United States – are lifted. That is why I believe that this mandate should be substantially changed before it is adopted, otherwise at the end of the negotiations I would again be compelled to vote against this agreement, as I have already done in the past."@en1
