Stating that the renovation costs of the Strasbourg seat following the disaster that took place in August 2008 should not be borne by European taxpayers is not enough. In fact, the European Parliament is legally obliged to look after the buildings that it owns with due care and attention. Moreover, appropriate legal proceedings have been initiated in order to obtain a refund for the costs incurred following the disaster. Finally, I should like to see a rigorous and objective review of the situation concerning the pension funds of MEPs rather than let it drift towards a certain demagogy."@en1
