Firstly, it stresses the importance for the European Union to protect the quality of products and makes this a major priority of the European agricultural strategy. Secondly, it defends the principle of geographical identification and traditional specialities, presenting them as two elements contributing to European agricultural competitiveness and the preservation of cultural heritage.
