The systematic repression of any opposition within Iran seems to us even more serious and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear project even more so. All this has been possible partly due to the wait-and-see, over-tolerant attitude of the West. Now that President Obama’s outstretched hand has also been spurned, the West has no alternative except to threaten and immediately implement a system of sanctions that are effective and severe yet selective so that they do not affect the people.
