This situation is disastrous and requires effective measures, particularly on the part of the wealthy European Union. However, we do not believe that the EU’s common agricultural policy, as it currently stands, is the solution. Our agricultural policy has been successful in the past, but it has no place in the future. Since this resolution opposes the revision of the current European system for agricultural aid (something that could benefit the climate, the world’s poor and Europe’s farmers), we could see no other alternative than to abstain from the vote."@en1
