lpv:translated text	"We are voting in favour of this resolution in the hope of preserving as many of the interests of airline passengers as possible given the current state of affairs (liberalisation of transport services, increase in the number of airlines). We would stress, however, that the compensation system proposed in this report is merely a stopgap that does nothing to change the fundamental problem. The real solution lies in the creation of a European public air transport service. A public service that is concerned with the general interest and thus, with rationalising the journeys made, in order to reduce the impact on the environment. A public service that is concerned with the general interest and thus with the safety, freedom of movement and well-being of its users and employees alike. We must, as a matter of urgency, put the Europe of exclusive interests behind us and build a Europe of the general interest."@en1
