lpv:translated text	"Madam President, President of the Commission, the growth of energy security is an important item in your programme. The success of the negotiations with Turkey, which led to the signing of the Nabucco agreement, highlights that the European Union is able to represent Member States on the international stage, and I wish to congratulate you on this achievement. I hope that by using the same methods, a similar success will be achieved in securing the required volume of gas at a time when there are countries in the region which want to make their sources available for this project. The future Commission must create an internal energy market, effective competition and a high level of supply security for all Member States. In this respect, an important role will be played by the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators. Romania has applied to host the headquarters of this agency and I hope that it will enjoy the necessary support. Energy security also depends on the EU’s neighbours. We must support neighbouring countries which subscribe to European values and aspire to become part of the European family. I also want to draw your attention to the still fragile political situation and the difficult economic situation in the Republic of Moldova. Support needs to be given urgently to the new political authorities in Chişinău to help them get through this difficult situation. Finally, I firmly believe that tomorrow’s vote will demonstrate the stability of Europe’s institutions and will make a positive contribution to the outcome of the referendum in Ireland."@en1
