The large numbers of women leading the demonstrations is an unmistakeable expression of the Iranians’ determination to live in a true democracy. President-in-Office of the Council, the European Union’s response has been too weak and too fainthearted. We need to send out a very strong political signal to express our absolute rejection of this intolerable theocratic dictatorship. The solution has been voiced very well by the leader of the resistance in exile, Massoud Rajavi: the Supreme Leader needs to be deposed, and a temporary assembly of experts needs to call free elections under international supervision.
