"This report assesses the implementation of the 30 TEN-T priority projects in which delays are having a major impact on the future of the European sustainable transport policy. Despite the difficulties, it is vital to remain committed to the changes needed to establish intermodal connections, particularly for citizens and freight. The various current challenges must be taken into account, ranging from security to regional issues, social, economic and financial habits, and the environment. The need for an integrated and more coherent approach to the transport network should therefore be underlined.
The importance of cross-border links to progress in the European transport network is clear, which is why we support improved interconnections between all modes of transport, in particular those which have found it more difficult to transform and develop, such as rail or maritime transport. Better links must be established with sea ports and airports, and proper implementation of trans-European network projects will certainly contribute to this objective.
The report reflects some of these concerns, but the order of priorities that I consider appropriate is not maintained throughout the whole text. I therefore voted against."@en1
