"As someone who has reservations regarding the long-term safety of nuclear power stations I am not entirely happy with this report. I accept that those who work in the industry are dedicated professionals. I accept accidents are few and far between. Yet the problem is the consequences when there is an accident are potentially so extreme. We cannot forget the nuclear accident in the Urals revealed by Roy Medvedev, the Three Mile Island accident that involved the events of the film that went on release only days before the accident, nor the Tokaimura accident in Japan, nor finally Chernobyl, whose consequences live with us all today but most tragically have been visited on the people and children living in the immediate vicinity or born to parents who were there."@en1
