lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour. The Alpine region is one of the most important and affluent territories within the European Community. It extends across eight states, which have already, on 4 April 1998, signed common agreements concerning the protection and conservation of this region and a common transport management policy. Indeed, as regards transport, the ‘Protocol on the Implementation of the Alpine Convention in the field of Transport’ was enacted on 24-26 May 2000, with the principal aim of providing a legal framework for sustainable mobility in the Alps. Although this protocol has yet to be accepted by all eight Alpine Convention states, we will do our utmost to ensure that it is ratified shortly by the other states of the region so that this ratification of the ‘Transport Protocol’ becomes one of the European Commission’s main priorities."@en1
