"I welcome the report by Mrs Badia i Cutchet on artistic studies in the European Union. These days, when our societies are increasingly heterogeneous, I think culture is fundamentally important as a means of preserving identity and at the same time improving the way in which different peoples and cultures coexist. I agree that art is a manifestation of culture and helps develop a country’s cultural wealth, as well as society in general. In addition, artistic activity can be useful for technological research and development and in turn is influenced by it. Therefore, given the importance of artistic subjects, I am in favour of Europe-wide coordination of their teaching in educational institutions."@en1
