"The involvement of women in professional life and politics and encouraging them to take on more responsibilities depend on the availability of childcare facilities. Women must be encouraged to plan their career, but this cannot be done without an efficient childcare system. Every euro invested in childcare facilities means a profit of six to nine euros for society through the creation of jobs and better conditions for bringing up children. The fact that in many EU Member States, you need, for example, to register for a place in a crèche even before your child is born or that there are waiting lists of several months to register for a place at nursery highlights that there are not enough childcare facilities in Europe. Childcare facilities not only help women develop their careers, but, in particular, they develop children’s skills as members of society. I would also like to say that during the current crisis, it is important for us to invest in education and health, which are practical investments in our future."@en1
