"Any citizen on the planet who is aware of the magnitude assumed by global warming can act to halt the progress of this process endangering Earth. In the case of drivers and the vehicles which they drive, these efforts are set out in the report voted on today.
‘Green driving’ means reducing fuel consumption. The EU is advocating a possible reduction in these costs of EUR 20 billion by 2010. It is also advocating a possible reduction in CO
emissions of 50 million tonnes. It goes without saying that the effects of these measures will only be evident in the long term. However, it is helpful that their implementation is coming into force one year ahead of the Commission’s proposal."@en1
