"− (
) It goes without saying that we in the June List stand for equal treatment, equal pay for equal work and the fundamental principle of the equality of men and women. We have therefore voted in favour of this report.
However, this is a ‘yes’ vote with a clear proviso. We are opposed to the European Parliament attempting to determine how the individual Member States should, for example, structure their national childcare or apply a quota system.
The present report is a typical example of the meddlesomeness and zeal for regulation that characterise the European Parliament. Instead of acting as a forum for the pressing challenges that require cross-border cooperation, it is continually interfering in issues that are, and should remain, national matters."@en1
