The massive demonstration by European unions yesterday in Strasbourg showed their commitment to better protection for workers. Several aspects of this report caught my attention and should be defended, including, in particular, the end of the derogation to weekly working time, which is currently set at 48 hours in the European Union. Like other European socialists, I am convinced that reconciling work and family life is essential for the people of Europe to flourish.
