"Madam President, in answer to Mr Rack’s question, we are, of course, well aware of the strong Turkish influence on the northern part of Cyprus, and we shall raise these problems. As you know, a delegation of elected representatives from Northern Cyprus will be visiting the European Parliament on Thursday, and that will be an opportunity to express our deep concern about these matters.
Let me reassure Mr Allister by telling him that we naturally monitor the fate of all confessions, and I thank him for reporting the case of these two young men from the Protestant community who have indeed been subjected to threats or aggression because of their religious beliefs. We shall therefore bring this point to the attention of the Turkish authorities, Mr Allister."@en1
