"For as long as fossil fuels are required to meet the EU’s energy needs it is important to support initiatives that aim to alleviate the environmental effects, for example using CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) technologies.
However, we are of the opinion that proceeds from auctioning emission allowances should go to the respective Member State and not be earmarked for different projects. Otherwise, there is a risk of the emission allowances system becoming ineffective and controlled from the top."@en1
