".
At the forthcoming ASEM Summit on 24 October 2008 in Beijing, the Burmese opposition leader and Nobel Prize Winner Aung San Suu Kyi will have been held captive for a total of 13 years exactly. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has announced his intention to visit Burma in December, but has indicated that he will only do so provided that serious progress can be made in the political and human rights situation in Burma; if not, he will be forced to postpone his visit. The forthcoming ASEM Summit is a perfect opportunity to bring intense pressure to bear on Burma to meet the UN’s conditions promptly and thus to precipitate Ban Ki-Moon’s visit."@en1
