"Globalisation has positive implications for economic growth and employment. It can also have negative consequences for the most sensitive and least qualified workers in certain sectors. These negative consequences can affect all Member States, regardless of whether they are large or small, long-standing Members or new entrants. The European Union’s structural funds support planned changes and their management in the framework of such actions as lifelong learning on a long-term basis. In contrast, the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund provides one-off personalised support for a limited time. Its aim is to support workers who have been made redundant as a result of market changes. The European Union should pay particular attention to this Fund."@en1
