". This report and the alternative resolutions tabled with it fall outside the legislative procedure and are nothing more than an expression of the desire of the federalist majority in the European Parliament to get the EU even more involved in the field of culture and media policy. During the preparation of the report, the rapporteur went much too far in her ambition to control and supervise the blogging universe. As luck would have it, the committee backed down somewhat in its proposal to plenary, and the motions tabled by some of the political groups are better than the report itself. But the basic question remains: why should this report be debated in the European Parliament at all? The question of media concentration is important – so important that it should continue to be handled in the Member States. We have therefore voted against this report in its entirety."@en1
