"The report from Ms Badia i Cutchet on improving the quality of teacher education today touches on some important issues.
The report is right to point out the need for adequate remuneration for teachers along with adequate training and teaching equipment.
Ultimately, however, it is up to the national governments who fund our education systems to manage the education of our children. In Ireland, children today are still being taught in prefabs instead of proper, safe buildings. The pupil-teacher ratio remains too high to allow for the best possible education of our children. These problems need to be tackled first and foremost in Ireland by means of adequate investment in the short- and long-term."@en1
