"Mr President, today we are witness to a gross infringement of the ban on market discrimination on the part of German and Austrian supermarket chains that are boycotting the Hungarian poultry farming and processing industry.
This involves the REWE, SPAR, METRO and Kaufland supermarkets, which are not taking delivery of Hungarian products in the wake of a boycott by an Austrian animal rights organisation. Consequently, this has caused a loss of 2 billion forints to the Hungarian poultry sector. They are using racial discrimination against Hungarian products, and thus violating the European Union’s competition laws.
Those affected will therefore turn to the European Court of Justice, since two of the Union’s fundamental principles are being violated: the ban on racial discrimination, and equality and freedom of competition. Thank you for your attention."@en1
