"I supported the Morillon report relating to the Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement. I consider that fishing nations should control their own fisheries whilst cooperating internationally through regional fisheries organisations.
The EU has a coastal interest in the Indian Ocean and accordingly must fulfil obligations under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. I look forward, however, to the day when France, and other EU nations, have direct control of their own fishing interests."@en1
