"Mr President, when we analyse the resolution on equality between women and men, it is difficult not to support it. I refer in particular to the points concerning violence against women and the need for education from the earliest years about discrimination against them. We are well aware that a proper upbringing and education is the best way to root out discrimination and violence against women. EU citizens are fairly uninformed about trafficking in women and largely unaware of the existence in our times of this dreadful, brutal trade, which is unacceptable in a civilised world. I therefore believe significant resources should be allocated to an information campaign. It must be pointed out, however, that despite all the difficult problems we are discussing, there has been significant progress towards equality between women and men in recent years, and it is especially noticeable in rural areas."@en1
