I forget his name, but I also hope he will stand up when he speaks and show some respect for this House. We were promised that Galileo would not be a white elephant, but that we were looking for a role for it. If you look at all the other satellite systems – the Chinese and Russian satellite systems and the American GPS – people are asking why we need Galileo. It is quite clear, if you look at this system – the white elephant in the sky – that we are looking for more and more uses for it. Now we are looking for a military dimension. Why do we need this military dimension? We clearly do not need it. It is based purely on envy of the Americans and ‘me too’ politics. Let us scrap this complete nonsense and let us save the taxpayers money, return it to the taxpayers and rely on much better technology."@en1
