"I voted in favour of the report by my British colleague Richard Corbett on the amendment of Parliament’s Rules of Procedure concerning the work of the plenary and initiative reports. I share the concern expressed in this report that Parliament’s work needs to be simpler, more streamlined and faster. Nonetheless, Members should be free to put written questions to the Commission and the Council, although I agree that it is important to prevent abuse of this system. I welcome the fact that Members attending a sitting will be given greater opportunity to speak. The idea that 40 Members can present an alternative resolution just as the political groups can is, in my opinion, a step forward for democracy, too."@en1
