lpv:translated text	"I completely agree with the view of the rapporteur, Mr Marcin Libicki, that the realisation of the project commonly known as the ‘Baltic Pipeline’ could pose an ecological risk to eight European Union countries: Germany, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark and Poland. It could also have a negative effect on consumers through increased prices to cover the cost of the pipeline’s construction. It is an important point that, as an alternative, the North European Pipeline could be built overland through European Union countries. This would fulfil all the strategic and economic requirements contained in Decision 1364/2006/EC. The alternative proposal is safer from the point of view of the environment and it is also cheaper. I am particularly in favour of carrying out independent reports and researching the impact of the pipeline construction on the environment."@en1
