lpv:translated text	"Today we have heard mention of the Espoo Convention on several occasions, mainly with regard to the need for all interested countries to observe international environmental protection standards. Ladies and gentlemen, the fact is that the Espoo Convention has not been ratified by Russia. Promises to maintain the standards defined in that document without ratifying it cannot be considered credible, as we have some experience of this with the energy charter. A group of fellow Members are proposing amendments to today’s document. In the four years that I have worked in this Parliament I have never come across lobbying of one company on such a scale. We are perfectly aware of the need for an independent assessment of the environmental impact, and the point of view that this assessment should be carried out by a single company, which some have mentioned, as if it could be done by that company alone, is completely unacceptable. I support the Libicki report and call on my fellow Members to join me."@en1
