"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, yesterday afternoon the head of the Montenegrin government attended the meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, after one hundred days in government. I asked him: ‘Mr Djukanović, why, when we are discussing what happened in Ireland – no to Europe, no to the Treaty of Lisbon – are you so keen to join the European Union, to be part of the European Union, when you have been independent for such a short time?’ He replied: ‘We do not want to be isolated, we do not want to be on our own. We want to be in a community’. In my view, that is the secret by which the problems can be resolved."@en1
