Mr President, I voted against the group on Amendment 12 to paragraph 94 of Mr Cappato’s report, by which the concept of ‘sexual and reproductive health’ would be deleted. Although the term ‘sexual and reproductive health’ also covers abortion, which I do not support as an absolute right, in my view it needs to be mentioned in this context. Paragraph 94 is a reminder that health programmes, including sexual and reproductive health, should be prominent in the EU´s development and human rights policy, in particular where gender-based violence is pervasive and women and children are put at risk of HIV/AIDS, or denied access to information, prevention and/or treatment."@en1
