"Mr President, I voted for Amendment 3, tabled by Mr Szymański, which is a stronger form of our general attitude to avoiding the presence of high-level state leaders at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. Mr Szymański finds a connection between the presence of state leaders and possibly supporting the internal policies of the Chinese authorities. I think it might be a warning signal to the Chinese authorities to make this connection more clear. That is why I voted for Amendment 3."@en1
