While the EU’s new Member States, excluding Malta and Cyprus, provide unique expertise for the application and targeting of development policy in our neighbour countries to the East, we must actively encourage their involvement with Sub-Saharan Africa and other LDCs. Our new Members strengthen the EU’s role as a world partner and should be fully encouraged in that role. The report and its recommendations have my support."@en1
