".
Madam President, ladies and gentlemen, I should like to express – both in a personal capacity and I hope, given what we witnessed, on behalf of my entire group – the strongest possible condemnation of the disgraceful, chauvinist, anti-European demonstration that was staged here earlier today.
My group is certainly in favour of a referendum on the new treaty and it has questions and misgivings about certain articles of the Charter. But all that is quite unrelated to what took place here this morning and it is important that there should be no confusion. For our part, we support a Community of values, we support the promotion of fundamental rights, we support a Europe of democracy and there is no place in our vision for chauvinism and bad behaviour!"@en1
