"Mr President, on 4 December 2007 the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic deemed that the legislation on termination of pregnancy, which permits induced abortions up to the 12
week of pregnancy without justification, and I repeat without any justification, does not infringe the Constitution of the Slovak Republic.
The Constitution of the Slovak Republic nevertheless speaks about the safeguarding of human life even before birth. I am sorry to say that this day will be written in the history of the Slovak Republic with the blood of the children who will not get the chance to be born and live.
I regret that the majority of the judges were unable to summon up enough courage to confirm the supremacy of the higher principle of safeguarding human life. Condoning abortions of unborn children on the grounds of so-called human rights, or rather women’s rights, which do not have anything in common with human nature and dignity, is regrettable and is to be condemned."@en1
