"UKIP approves of greater investment in and participation in sport. However, we cannot accept that physical education be made compulsory for all and the UK parental opt out abolished by the EU, given that many groups have religious or cultural objections to sport, and also that some disabled children may not be physically able to take part in certain sports even when they would wish to do so. Obligatory PE is an issue for head teachers and boards of governors, not for the EU. In any case the EU has no competence on sport. UKIP welcomes commendation of the hard work of volunteers in sport but believes that a spirit of friendly competition means this must be done at national and not EU level."@en1
