"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I did not take part in the vote on Myanmar, because I think that, despite our good intentions, the authorities of that country could not give a damn about what we vote.
I must point out, however, that the demonstrations were able to take place in Myanmar for several days without any major problems, whereas in our capital Brussels, a peaceful demonstration was brutally repressed no sooner than it had begun. Let us take a closer look at the violations of our rights, of our freedom to demonstrate in our Europe, before we start looking at other people’s houses!"@en1
