"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, we have voted convincingly for this resolution, but Europe must do more. I have already written you a letter, Mr President, asking you to invite a delegation of Buddhist monks to Europe, accompanied perhaps by the high spiritual authority, the Dalai Lama, in respect of whom the Brussels authorities and the Belgian government have shamefully gone along with China’s diktat. Talking of the Brussels authorities, I am astonished, Mr President, that there has not yet been a clear voice from your side condemning the wrongful and deliberate action of the Brussels authorities in respect of some MEPs. The battle for freedom is not just the battle of the Buddhist monks, it is the battle of those who protest democratically, for instance against the Islamicisation of Europe! The silence of the European Parliament is disgraceful, when MEPs like Vanhecke, Borghezio and others have demonstrated for the freedom of Europe! Shame!"@en1
