". There is no doubt that this operation, which is clearly military in scope and conducted under the aegis of the UN, is aimed at consolidating the interventionist, militarist strategic concept of the CFSP/ESDP of the European Union. For some, this military operation is going to be a real test of the so-called ‘credibility’ and operational effectiveness of the EU’s European Security and Defence Policy, in other words of its militarisation under the command and in accordance with the interests of its major powers. The majority of the EP approves the ‘mandate’ for this military operation on the part of the EU, which includes the ‘use of force’ – within the meaning of Chapter VII of the UN Charter – in a region of Africa. This is an act of intervention involving a military ‘presence’ with neo-colonialist aims, a real act of war in a complex region where there are strong interests at stake, associated with the control of huge energy resources. The real reasons underlying this great ‘interest’ in the region on the part of the major EU powers, notably France, are directly proportional to the results of prospection activities, which point to the existence of huge reserves of oil and other natural resources. Congo, Chad and the Central African Republic. Where next?"@en1
