"Mr President, while we have a delegation from the National People’s Congress in the public gallery, can I also say that I hope Mr Wang Ying-Fan will take a very strong message from this House that we expect China to be more active in bringing about a solution to the problems in Burma.
Mr President, we spoke about this yesterday and I know he will take our views back with him.
In order to save time, may I propose two oral amendments? We have a very fast changing situation in Burma at the moment. First, I propose that, in paragraph 1, we have an additional sentence at the end: ‘and utterly condemns the brutal response by the Burmese authorities’."@en1
