I have here a photocopy of the letter and I quote: ‘the Government of Chad welcomes the new recommendations of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, contained in his report of 10 August 2007, with a view to the deployment of an international presence in eastern Chad in order to contribute [...]’ and so on and so forth. The amendment thus serves no purpose. The agreement is in writing and is accessible to anyone who wishes to read it. I am quite taken aback because I sent a copy of the text to Mr Gahler. I therefore propose that we vote against the amendment."@en1
